Adam McDaniel is a record producer, engineer, mixer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Asheville, North Carolina. As founder and co-owner of Drop of Sun Studios, Adam is dedicated to fostering safe space and time for artists to seek and discover their best work. His production is characterized by a propensity for experimentation, the techniques of musique concrète, and mindful use of a mute button. I love sounds I haven’t heard before, and I love listening for the moment we all say ‘Yeah! That’s it!’ That’s the best feeling, and it happens with anyone, no matter their background or skill. The song’s already out there and we’re receiving it together.

Adam’s recording work spans pop, rock, noise, jazz, avant-anything, and sound design. He also performs live on guitar, bass clarinet, modular synthesizer, keyboards, and samplers.

In 2023 Adam launched DOSed, a cassette imprint modeled on equity for the artists; all label proceeds are donated to Lamplight AVL, the Asheville arts nonprofit he founded with his wife Emily McDaniel.
